Local Sewing Machine Repairs in Calne, Wiltshire

Meet the person behind the work

My mum has been a dressmaker and seamstress all her life, so sewing machines have always been part of everyday life growing up. Whether it was alterations, fixing things, or just keeping machines running, they were always there — and I naturally found myself getting involved.

Over time, that turned into me properly tinkering with them myself. Taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and more importantly, how to get them back to behaving properly again. I’ve always been quite hands-on, and I genuinely enjoy solving the little (and sometimes very frustrating) problems that stop a machine doing what it should.

Alongside repairs, I also run Malling Makes with my mum, where we work on embroidery, alterations, and custom projects. I also do embroidery digitising, so I spend a lot of time working closely with machines in different ways — not just fixing them, but understanding how they’re used day to day.

Between us, we bring a mix of experience and a practical, get-stuck-in approach. My focus is always on getting machines running smoothly again, giving honest advice, and helping people get back to sewing without the stress — whether it’s a well-used machine or one that’s been sitting in the cupboard for a while.

I’m also a big fan of knitting machines. This one’s a late 90s electric machine that I’ll be using to create all sorts of knitwear — especially experimenting with double jacquard designs.
